Garden House

A period home has been renovated and extended to include a striking single storey rear extension and a loft conversion which offers fabulous views to the garden and skyline.  Where they still exist, attractive original features have been retained and are evident upon entry where the focus of the hall / dining room / extension space unfolds sequentially into the secluded garden. The new angled intervention reads as a contemporary insertion sympathetic to the massing of the original white stucco rear elevation.

With the whole house undergoing refurbishment, the client gave us the freedom to design a new master bedroom and en-suite bathroom at second floor level. Our response was to carve out the loft space and puncture the rear roof of the original house with a four metre wide fully glazed dormer window offering a panoramic view of the surrounding tree-tops.
